Sora is OverDrive's app for ebooks and audiobooks available to school communities. Student and staff passwords to log into this app are the same as what is used for logging into other devices in the school. Starting in the fall of 2018, schools in the Madison Oneida BOCES bought into this service and began to purchase ebooks and audiobooks to allow sharing across the BOCES system.
- Renaissance offering free access to myON for students and families during the current COVID-19 school closures. Students may log in through a single, shared account, to access this collection of curated resources, which includes thousands of digital books, both fiction and nonfiction, covering a variety of topics and themes, as well as five daily myON News articles, written for students by journalists and reviewed by a child psychologist for age appropriateness. Here is a link to many ebook resources available to us through the M/O BOCES. Many of the books through these vendors many be loaded on our library's card catalogs which should be your first stop.
Libby is the app created by Overdrive to allow access to ebooks. Overdrive is the company used by our local libraries for their ebook and audiobook collections. To use Libby / Overdrive you will need to have a public library card. The books that are borrowed could be read on multiple platforms and apps. There are other online resources available through the public library as well.

Digital book library for kids 12 and under. From Epic!: "Epic!'s digital library includes many of the best kids books, popular ebooks, and videos such as Fancy Nancy, Big Nate, Warriors, and National Geographic Kids." You can set up a free trial for 30 days but some of the teachers also have free educator accounts for our students with class codes that can be used to access the database.
Open Books is a new (February 2016) federal program offers a large selection of e-books to Title 1 educators and ALL special ed teachers. The app is available on Apple devices (iOS 8 or above) and Android. Teachers provide students with codes, and if they have mobile devices they can download the app for free.
